International Education
In December 2008, Dr Jangh Rai joined the school district as Advisor International Education, Health & Development. In addition to being responsible for expanding international collaboration of the school district in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, he will be actively engaged in promoting diverse preparatory courses on contemporary global issues at the secondary and pre-secondary levels in Powell River. Transdisciplinary introductory courses would be organized in the fields of global studies & international development, cross-cultural promotion, preparation of students for internship and international placement. Linking contemporary social and productive sectors (gender & development, education, health care, agriculture-animal husbandry and eco-health) would be the focal point of prep studies.
Dr Rai has extensive experience and credibility in the fields of humanitarian aid – emergency, post-emergency, sustainable food security and linking it with sustainable development. His outstanding performance of the last three and a half decades in International Education, Health, Gender & Development, Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) and Development (transdisciplinary-multisectoral) has been acknowledged and appreciated by all the organizations and stakeholders he has been working with. To name a few – the Ministry of Development Cooperation of Netherlands, International Centre of Development & Research (CIDR France), UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders (MSF Holland, Canada & Switzerland), Merlin UK and above all, the recipient communities.

Dr Rai’s concept of and dedication to the globalization of education has been of great interest to the Board of Education and local government authorities. His passion for promotion of youth through international exposure and finding meaningful ways of acquiring and integrating cross-cultural knowledge has been remarkable. Sustainability of development projects, more specifically his work on literacy - education and empowerment of women in developing countries, has been endorsed by all stakeholders.
